   The Red Wagon
A fun place to be!

Welcome to the Red Wagon, now open in Shipshewana, Indiana! We are your headquarters for Thomas the Tank, Melissa & Doug, DK educational books, and tons of fun stuff.

Visitors can watch mural painting this weekend at Davis Mercantile

This Friday and Saturday, December 2 & 3, artist Nancy Wagoner will be sharing her talents at the Red Wagon children's store in Shipshewana, Indiana.

Born and raised in the Ft. Wayne area, Wagoner has been a prolific artist for 20 years. Her list of accomplishments includes murals at 114 schools in Indiana, including Shipshewana Elementary, libraries, hospitals, churches, and residential work.  She has also painted for a water park, and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

This weekends project will be a 10 x 14 mural of "Dick and Jane." The classic, old fashioned motif will be a natural complement to the unique space that the Red Wagon calls home in the Davis Mercantile.  The Mercantile, which burned to the ground February 2004, reopened last month. It is believed to be the largest commercial timber framed building in the Midwest, and includes building materials such as solid oak, beech and Douglas fir beams ranging in size from 10 inches by 10 inches to massive 14-by-14-inch timbers from trees more than 100 years old and 16-by-22-inch laminated beams that are 66 feet long
